RainSaucers 1

Three RainSaucers™ (MSRP $55) were networked together with 2” PVC pipe connected to a 150 gallon recycled HDPE tank painted green for algae prevention. Total harvesting capacity is just over 20 gallons collected per inch of rain. A trellis is used to support the networked RainSaucers™ which houses the plants being grown through Aquaponics. The collected rainwater is being used to top off the fish tank when water is lost due to evaporation.

Rainwater harvesting is ideal for fish farming and aquaponics because it is free and doesn’t require treatment. RainSaucers™ allows for rainwater collection straight from the sky onto a food grade surface, eliminating the potential for added roof contaminants.

This project is installed at a private residence in Orlando, Florida, where it rains 48 inches per year.
