DALLAS — Conserving water resources while sidestepping government-imposed water usage regulations is possible by effective harvesting of rainwater.

Private individuals are invited to sign up for Rainwater University 2015; industry professionals can earn continuing education units over the three-day rainwater harvesting course. Rainwater University is an instructional series on the latest

techniques and industry standards for effective collection, storage and use of rainwater. The course runs April 7-9.

“Our participants run the gamut of rainwater harvesting and emerge from the course with a comprehensive understanding of the latest industry trends and technologies,” said Karen Sanders of the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension

Center in Dallas. “This three-day series represents one of the

most complete offerings of rainwater harvesting instruction in

the world and we only do it once a year.”

The course includes instruction on: estimating the size and demands of collection systems, system sanitation and operation, harvesting air conditioning condensate, building codes, sustainable detention pond design, rain gardens, green roofing, low-impact development and a host of others.

The three-day course offers continuing education units for members of the Texas Flood Plain Managers and the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association. Available CEU information is pending for the American Planning Association and the American Rainwater Catchment System Association.

A full list of course offerings, available CEUs, pricing and registration information is posted at
